Sabrina McNew
Sabrina McNew is a disease ecologist whose lab studies the ecology and evolution of host-parasite interactions. She joined the faculty in Ecology and Evolution in 2023. Her work integrates field experiments, genomics, and spatial analysis to understand how disease affects biological communities. Dr. McNew's past work has been focused in the Neotropics, including the Peruvian Andes biodiversity hotspot, and the Galapagos Islands. Current projects include studies of introduced parasites and pathogens in the Galapagos Islands and their effects on endemic birds.
Locally, Dr. McNew is studying in patterns of community diversity of birds and their parasites in the Sonoran Desert. She is interested in building collaborations to build projects centered in One Health and emerging disease in a changing world. Learn more about her work at sabrinamcnew.com.
