Mauricio "Mau" Nunez-Regueiro
I am a Researcher at CONICET - IBIGEO - LEAC and an Associate Professor of Ecology and Environment at the Universidad Católica de Salta, in Argentina. I am passionate about combining quantitative techniques (yes, big data!) from the field of landscape ecology with economic tools to better understand how human activities (such as deforestation ) and policy programs affect natural resources.
My goal is to advance conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services within the context of sustainable economic development of tropical and subtropical regions. I expect to do this by bridging the gap between decision makers and science, conducting high-impact research and leading conservation-related efforts that affect policy, help build a stronger community of conservation scientists and practitioners, and engage society.
I feel very fortunate to work on some of the most relevant conservation-related questions of our time. This is exciting! I also enjoy critical thinking, playing music, vinyls, photography, film-making, sports and outdoor activities with family and friends.
